Job Description

The Director of Risk will take a key role on the location-neutral team, responsible for underwriting, risk management, and compliance functions of the payment facilitation business. This individual will interpret and apply payment card industry guidelines, craft policies & procedures, and assess & manage risks posed to the company.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and update policies and procedures for compliance, underwriting, and risk functions
• Ensure policies and procedures align with regulations and business objectives
• Manage, monitor, train, and coach compliance, underwriting, and risk teams
• Design and implement management reporting
• Create cross-functional relationships with Sales and Customer Ops leaders
• Oversee and participate in daily analysis of merchant activity
• Review high-ticket merchant transactions
• Oversee and participate in application review and underwriting
• Monitor changes in payment industry regulations
• Recommend changes to policies and procedures
• Review and ensure compliance standards are properly accounted for
• Manage external compliance-related audits
• Lead compliance training

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Ten years of compliance and/or risk management experience
• Advanced knowledge of payment industry regulations
• Ability to design and improve underwriting and risk policies
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and delegate tasks
• People management skills
• Superior organizational and time management skills
• Sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently
• Experience managing operational relationships with sponsor bank risk teams
• Risk management experience across various merchant industry verticals
• Experience working within a software and technology-driven company
