Check is building payroll businesses together with every one of their partners. As the inventors of embedded payroll, they’re redefining how people get paid and making it easier for payroll businesses to launch, grow, and thrive. The role involves working hands-on with complex problems, building prototypes, sharing feedback, coaching the team, shaping system architecture, and building scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on with complex problems across engineering teams
• Build prototypes for creative solutions
• Share feedback on improving the team or platform
• Coach the team by building connections and working transparently
• Shape the system’s architecture
• Model clear, critical thinking through code and diagrams
• Architect and build scalable systems and services within the mono-repo

Requirements

• Experience with staff level ownership and impact
• Experience building complex systems that have scaled and changed over time
• Resiliency solving ambiguous problems
• Proficient in debugging complex systems and handling critical incidents
• Experience setting a technical strategy across teams
• Proficiency in Python or Go (Django, React or Typescript is a plus)
