Job Description

The New York Times Opinion department seeks a correspondent to write editorials on public policy issues, requiring expertise in areas like U.S. politics, global affairs, and technology. The role demands strong storytelling skills, analytical writing, and the ability to generate ideas, with responsibilities including writing editorials, contributing to various media formats, and engaging with readers.

Responsibilities

• Write editorials on a wide range of topics
• Develop ideas for editorials
• Participate in regular group meetings
• Contribute to other parts of the Opinion report
• Demonstrate support and understanding of our mission
• Report to the Editorial Director, Opinion

Requirements

• 5+ years experience publishing ambitious journalism
• Demonstrated ability to write clearly and creatively
• Experience developing and executing high-impact pieces
• Experience working simultaneously on long-term projects and tight news deadlines
• Experience maintaining the highest standards for fact checking
• A highly developed network of sources
• Expertise in one of more areas that is a regular subject of Times editorials
