Job Description

Amplitude is seeking a Design Systems and Product Architecture Design Lead to redefine and drive the vision, strategy, and implementation of their design system across desktop and mobile, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Brand to build a cohesive UI component library, interaction patterns, and design guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the rebuilding of Amplitude’s design system, creating a unified, scalable framework
• Establish Figma libraries for consistent UI components
• Define design tokens, interaction patterns, and visual guidelines
• Continuously audit and refine UI
• Partner with engineering leadership to align design and system architecture
• Collaborate on building foundational product platform components
• Embed design system thinking into product workflows
• Advocate for best practices in componentization
• Develop accessible, inclusive UI components
• Establish color, type, and iconographic systems
• Provide a framework for accessibility
• Build a contribution model
• Evangelize the design system across Amplitude
• Present the design system’s mission and roadmap
• Lead documentation efforts
• Provide design leadership and guidance
• Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement
• Inspire and mentor designers and engineers

Requirements

• Proven experience leading design systems at scale
• Deep expertise in systems thinking, usability, and accessibility
• Experience working across design and engineering
• Highly skilled in Figma
• Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration
• Strong UX and UI design skills
• Portfolio showcasing design systems work
