Job Description

The BMS Simulation Engineer will own simulation models for Archer’s high voltage battery controls system and verify its safety-critical functionality. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, validating, and continuously improving simulation models throughout the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate BMS simulation modeling
  • Define simulation requirements
  • Create reduced order models
  • Manage and maintain model libraries
  • Analyze simulation data and generate reports
  • Implement continuous improvements to the models
  • Develop diagnostic interfaces
  • Validate simulation model performance
  • Create test cases and scripts
  • Assist in the execution of BMS software verification test plans
  • Support simulation test infrastructure

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience with Battery Management System controls development
  • Understanding of BMS principles, algorithms, and functionalities
  • Knowledge of battery physics-based model development processes
  • Experience with model based development using MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience developing models of physical systems based on requirements
  • Experience in controls software/model integration testing
  • Experience developing real-time software/models for a Hardware-in-the-Loop electronic control unit simulator
  • Experience building and developing software for a COTS HIL platform
  • Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python)
  • Experience with requirement management and test management tools
  • Excellent organizational skills, clear written and verbal communication, and a collaborative mindset
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
