Job Description

SmithRx is seeking a Director, Platform Engineering to lead a team of engineers in building and enhancing their platform, which serves as the backbone for their healthcare solutions. The role involves defining technical strategy, leading team management, platform development, cross-functional collaboration, budget management, and ensuring quality and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the platform's technical strategy
• Partner with executive leadership on architectural decisions and scaling strategies
• Lead the creation and execution of a long-term platform development roadmap
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team
• Manage and develop engineering talent
• Lead the design, development, and evolution of a scalable platform
• Ensure platform security and compliance
• Champion operational excellence
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Manage the engineering budget
• Drive quality and predictability in software delivery

Requirements

• Bachelors or advanced degree in computer science or related field
• 12 years of software development experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role
• Experience building and leading engineering teams of 30+ engineers
• Proven track record in developing scalable, reliable, and secure systems
• Experience driving operational excellence
• Experience navigating ambiguity while building strong relationships
• Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities
• Experience in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is a plus
