Job Description

As the Engineering Manager of the Embedded Platform and Sensors team, you will lead the development of the critical software infrastructure bridging embedded hardware systems and the high-level applications of Wayve's autonomous vehicle fleet. Your leadership will drive the stability, security, and utility of Wayve's platform support while ensuring seamless integration of hardware components, sensor systems, and software.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a multidisciplinary team of experts
• Define and execute the team’s roadmap in collaboration with stakeholders
• Oversee the development and maintenance of hardware-tailored operating systems
• Direct efforts to enable sensors, camera systems, and other hardware components
• Ensure robust system-level security, including networking and disk encryption
• Drive the team’s efforts to deliver secure and reliable OTA updates for the fleet
• Manage relationships with hardware vendors and align team deliverables
• Act as the interface between the team and other organizations
• Recruit, mentor, and grow your team, cultivating technical excellence
• Identify skill gaps and facilitate training to meet the evolving needs of the team

Requirements

• 5+ years in a leadership role within software development
• 3 years managing teams working on embedded systems or hardware/software integration
• Hands-on experience with Linux- or QNX-based systems and embedded software development
• Proficiency in at least one relevant programming language, such as C++, or Rust
• Demonstrated ability to deliver software solutions bridging hardware and high-level applications
• Proven ability to define, negotiate, and execute technical roadmaps
• Exceptional communication skills to effectively liaise with hardware teams, application developers, and other stakeholders
• A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
