Job Description

The CDC Foundation is seeking an Epidemiologist to support surveillance, prevention, and response activities within the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program. The role involves conducting epidemiologic activities, analyzing data, implementing surveillance projects, and disseminating results to local communities.

Responsibilities

  • Refine epidemiology surveillance data processing
  • Conduct literature reviews on drug overdose-related topics
  • Develop fact sheets and data visualizations
  • Develop manuscripts, surveillance reports, and data briefs
  • Assist health departments in DOSE data submission
  • Support innovative surveillance activities
  • Provide assistance to SUDORS data abstractors
  • Assist with SUDORS closeout reports
  • Assist with rapid opioid death detection (RODD) activity
  • Participate in discussions on OD2A data usage
  • Attend DOSE and SUDORS workgroup meetings
  • Provide training, technical assistance, and consultative services
  • Serve as a point of contact for epidemiologic issues
  • Develop policies and procedures for disease control programs

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public health or related field
  • Two years of experience leading data analysis
  • Ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (SAS preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of research and epidemiologic studies
  • Ability to work independently and within teams
  • Experience working in a virtual environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
