Job Description

The CDC Foundation is seeking a SUDORS Abstractor to support the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program. The abstractor will work with epidemiologists to identify and abstract data from death certificates and coroner reports into the SUDORS database.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain relationships with relevant offices
• Abstract data from death certificates and reports into SUDORS
• Work with surveillance teams to refine data processing
• Conduct SUDORS data quality assurance activities
• Conduct manual reviews of narrative fields
• Assist in SUDORS closeout reports
• Attend SUDORS workgroup meetings
• Potentially contribute to reports and briefs
• Maintain knowledge of coding guidance and database changes
• Follow data security and confidentiality procedures
• Travel for on-site data abstraction, as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's or nursing degree or EMT/death investigation certificate required; Master's preferred
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Highly motivated and organized
• Strong communication skills
• Proficiency in statistical analysis software (SAS preferred)
• Proficiency in computer systems and data integrity
• Ability to work independently and within teams
• Emotional resilience
• Experience working in a virtual environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
