Job Description

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior R&D Technical Project Manager to oversee technical projects within the R&D division, focusing on fusion devices and superconducting magnet systems. The role involves managing project objectives, schedules, budgets, and coordinating cross-departmental communication. The ideal candidate will have experience in hardware development, project management, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage development, manufacturing, R&D, or analysis programs
• Own test planning efforts
• Work with collaborators to ensure objectives and timelines are communicated
• Coordinate cross-departmental communication
• Ask technical questions to maximize learning
• Coordinate with test facilities for data reduction
• Leverage external support
• Coordinate resources within the R&D team
• Act as a mentor to the R&D engineering team
• Work with procurement
• Grow and lead a team of engineers
• Manage R&D engineering consultants
• Manage relationships with external collaborators

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or applied science
• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a technical contributor
• 5+ years of experience managing complex hardware development projects
• Experience using project/product management tools
• Experience in system-level design
• Fantastic communication and organizational skills
• Resource estimation and projection
• Strong time management skills
• Self-motivation and autonomy
