Job Description

A theoretical/computational scientist will assist the HRL team in evaluating the performance and quantum-control possibilities for spin-qubits, entangled photons, and/or other quantum systems, with an emphasis on computational methods. The candidate will read and produce robust source code and associated mathematical analysis for numerical evaluation of methods to characterize qubits or photonic systems, interact with experimental practitioners, and provide critical input to developing methods for building and characterizing complex quantum experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate performance and quantum-control possibilities for spin-qubits, entangled photons, and/or other quantum systems
  • Develop computational methods for characterizing qubits or photonic systems
  • Produce robust source code and associated mathematical analysis
  • Interact with experimental practitioners
  • Provide critical input to developing methods for building and characterizing complex quantum experiments

Requirements

  • Coursework or experience in applied quantum information theory
  • Familiarity with mathematical software development (Python, Matlab, Mathematica, Julia, C/C++)
  • Prior in-depth interaction with experimental groups
  • Doctoral degree in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or similar field
