Job Description

We’re looking for a Product Design Manager, Payments/Capital to join our Financial Services team. The Product Design Manager is responsible for leading a team to deliver high-impact outcomes on complex projects; focusing on team performance, driving execution, improving processes, mentoring team members and partnering with leadership to shape key initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Translates complex business objectives into clear, actionable solutions
  • Identifies problems before they surface
  • Brings strategic thinking to execution and problem framing
  • Guides teams to solve abstract challenges end-to-end
  • Proactively explores and integrates AI and emerging technologies
  • Develops and communicates holistic design strategies
  • Partners closely with product managers to lead problem definition
  • Ensures user needs remain central throughout the product development process
  • Demonstrates deep expertise in design system principles
  • Leads teams in defining foundational components
  • Evolves the design system
  • Ensures design system scales with quality and consistency
  • Provides mentorship and clear growth paths for team members
  • Fosters a high-performing, motivated team culture
  • Oversees project delivery
  • Manages team workload and backlogs
  • Establishes processes that drive efficiency
  • Builds strong cross-functional relationships

Requirements

  • 4+ years of industry experience in a people management role on a Design team
  • Experience in matrix organizations
  • Foundational design-related education (Bachelor of Design, or Visual Arts, or Architecture, or Industrial Design, or Communication)
  • Acute self-awareness and deep empathy for both the customer and your team’s goals
  • Tenured, evolutionary perspective on technology, product, and design practices
  • Applied experience within the financial services sector, payment UX
  • Strong service design foundations and a mindset of optimizing your design process for efficacy
  • Appetite (and the skill) for working across all digital and physical manifestations of what we design
  • Passion for mentoring executives, product managers, and engineers
  • Excellent communication and data visualization skills
  • Ability to bring internal stakeholders on your design journey
  • Support your decisions with focus and brevity
  • Deep curiosity and ability to consider product strategy and vision
  • Experience with Agile design sprint methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Experience with the Jira platform
  • Fluency with product, design, and prototyping tools (Figma, Google Suite, Miro)
