Job Description

The Manager of the Startups Applied AI team at Anthropic will work with fast-growing AI-focused startups to develop LLM solutions. Responsibilities include leading and growing the team, establishing best practices, and representing Anthropic as a technical lead. The role involves collaborating with various teams, identifying innovation opportunities, and maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a team of Applied AI Product Engineers
• Partner with GTM leadership to understand customer requirements and build strategies
• Set goals and reviews for the team
• Work with high-value Startups on LLM application
• Provide technical guidance on integration, deployment, and adoption
• Lead and support the team in complex evaluations
• Drive collaboration from cross-functional teams
• Travel to customer sites and industry events
• Establish a shared vision for creating solutions
• Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of innovative solutions

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Customer Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Solutions Architect
• 3+ years of customer-oriented engineering management role
• Experience building and operating AI-native products
• Experience working with AI-native startups
• Organizational mindset and enjoy building teams
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and coaching abilities
• Comfortable dealing with uncertain and fast-moving environments
• Strong executive presence
• Familiarity with the architecture and operation of large language models
• Ability to make ambiguous problems clear
• Passion for making technology safe and beneficial
• Creative thinking about risks and benefits
• Active interest in emerging research and industry trends
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
