Job Description

CesiumAstro is seeking a Principal Electronics Test Engineer I to design, analyze, and implement engineering test plans and procedures for board-level electronics products. The ideal candidate will possess strong hardware and software knowledge, proficiency in measurement techniques, test equipment, test architectures, automation, and integrated system testing. The position requires close collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, presenting engineering design review materials, and participating in proposal writing.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and executing tests at prototype, qualification, and acceptance stages
  • Planning and executing board-level verification tests (high-speed signal integrity, digital link characterization, power supply performance, and performance over temperature)
  • Designing and developing systems for testing complex integrated hardware and software (phased array products)
  • Writing test software to interface with DUTs and test equipment
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of in-house tools (test software and documentation templates)
  • Developing test requirements for new products
  • Writing hardware test plans and procedures
  • Developing test architectures and test systems (equipment selection, test fixtures, data logging methodology, and interfaces)
  • Advising design engineering team on design-for-testability (DFT)
  • Troubleshooting and debugging hardware and software issues
  • Training technicians and operators to perform tests
  • Designing tests for compliance with standards (NASA GEVS)
  • Evaluating and documenting test results, presenting them to key stakeholders
  • Guiding equipment purchasing decisions
  • Contributing to lab buildout and lab management
  • Designing board-level electronics hardware for test systems (for qualified Electronics Test Engineers)

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited university
  • 9 years of industry or university research experience in design, analysis, and implementation of electronic products and/or test systems
  • Experience designing and executing test plans for custom board-level electronics
  • Hands-on experience with lab instruments (digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, and vector signal analyzers)
  • Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
