Job Description

Bumble Inc. is building an AI Accelerator team to drive engineering productivity and internal operational efficiency. The Director of Engineering will lead a technical team focused on identifying, prototyping, and integrating AI tools that streamline internal workflows, enhance developer velocity, and support key functions like Engineering, Trust & Safety and Marketing. This role will work in close partnership with other AI initiatives across the company to help transform Bumble's overall AI capabilities, focusing specifically on internal enablement, such as automation, operational tooling, and developer efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high-performing technical team to drive internal AI adoption
  • Focus on Engineering as the top priority, with later expansion to other internal functions
  • Partner with engineering and operations leads to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for efficiency gains using AI
  • Rapidly prototype and test AI tools and determine fit for integration into Bumble’s internal stack
  • Own end-to-end delivery of internal AI solutions that automate workflows and reduce manual effort
  • Foster a culture of agile experimentation with a strong bias for delivery
  • Define and drive the AI Accelerator roadmap across four core areas: Engineering productivity, Design & product workflow efficiency, Trust, safety, and risk management, Marketing automation and content generation

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in engineering or technical roles, with proven success delivering AI-enabled solutions
  • Comfortable coding and building prototypes; able to move quickly from idea to execution
  • Experience working in fast-paced, start-up or high-growth environments where autonomy and ownership are key
  • Deep technical fluency in AI/ML tools, developer workflows, and automation
  • Strong collaborator who thrives on enabling others and solving real-world engineering challenges
