Job Description

This position functions as a Painter and performs skilled work involving the maintenance and repair of the building.

Responsibilities

• Performs industrial painting work
• Prepares surfaces for painting
• Mixes and blends paints
• Caulks, putties, and plasters
• Cuts and replaces glass
• Erects and uses ladders and scaffolding
• Paints buildings, structures, equipment, and furniture
• Prepares walls and hangs wall coverings
• Determines and requests supplies
• Cleans and stores tools and equipment
• Assists in maintenance and repair work
• Performs preventative maintenance
• Drives vehicles and transports materials
• Lifts heavy objects
• Works in confined spaces and inclement weather
• May wear a respirator
• Maintains records

Requirements

• Knowledge of industrial applications and coatings
• Knowledge of painting tools and techniques
• Knowledge of safety standards
• Ability to perform manual labor
• Requires manual dexterity
• Ability to work long hours in emergencies and inclement weather
• Ability to ascend and descend stairways
• Ability to wear personal safety equipment
• Ability to wear a respirator
• Ability to assist with equipment maintenance
• Ability to mix and blend paint
• Ability to estimate materials and time
