Job Description

The core metrics team is a new engineering team in Viant responsible for billable events, reports, billing, finance artifacts, and data governance. As a senior engineer, you will design and implement big data systems, working with petabytes of data and billions of transactions in real-time.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, testing, debugging, and deploying applications using cloud technologies in a hybrid cloud environment in GCP and AWS
• Writing/Optimizing complex SQL queries
• Writing ELT jobs using various tools and programming languages
• Improving the current programmatic codebase and optimizing existing ETL processes
• Importing and exporting large amounts of data in formats like CSV, JSON, Parquet, etc.
• Collaborating with product owners, fellow engineers, and operations team members
• Mentoring/Helping team members
• Being part of rotating on-call routines for various data pipelines

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in the software industry, including 2+ years on big data-focused projects
• Extensive experience in Big Data technologies and data integrations
• Experience with Google BigQuery
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining ETL data engineering pipelines
• High proficiency in SQL
• Solid understanding of data relationships and optimization techniques
• AWS/GCP cloud ecosystem experience
• Ability to troubleshoot
• High sense of ownership and quality of one’s work, and effective communication within the team
