Job Description

Voleon, a technology company applying AI and machine learning to finance, seeks a Head of Tax to strategically craft and implement the firm's tax strategy. This role involves overseeing corporate- and fund-level tax work, research, planning, strategy, and implementation, reporting to the CFO or GC and working closely with senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead tax strategy, advisory, and planning
• Assess tax risks and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Deliver tax advice to cross-functional teams
• Participate in tax planning for new products and jurisdictions
• Oversee relationships with external tax advisors and authorities
• Conduct tax research on complex issues
• Evaluate tax implications of market expansion and new products
• Ensure compliance with tax laws and create monitoring processes
• Remain current on tax law changes
• Review and approve tax paperwork

Requirements

• 15+ years of tax experience in finance or asset management
• CPA certification required, J.D. a plus
• Strong understanding of hedge fund tax issues
• Experience with K-1, K-2, K-3, and 1065 returns
• Experience with tax form elections
• Understanding of 871m withholding tax regime preferred
• International tax experience preferred
• Bachelor's/advanced degree in Accounting, Taxation, Law, or Finance
