Job Description

As a Sr. Automation Engineer, General Assembly, you will play a lead role in advancing Lucid’s goal of being a highly automated manufacturing company. You will work closely with external equipment suppliers and internal teams to design, program, test, and commission complex automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Be a subject matter expert in industrial control systems
• Create hardware, software, safety, and maintenance standards
• Collaborate with equipment suppliers in controls and software development
• Manage interfacing of equipment with higher-level factory systems
• Integrate with the project team on all stages of equipment development
• Track Overall Equipment Effectiveness and lead continuous improvement projects

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in an Automation Engineering role in the automotive industry
• Proficiency in control system design and PLC programming
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
• Experience with machine vision and part identification systems
• Familiarity with industrial robots
• Knowledge of computer networking concepts
• Ability to program in higher level computer languages
• Detailed knowledge of equipment safety standards
• Hands-on experience in executing discrete automation applications
• Working knowledge of CAD software
• Strong organization and presentation skills
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
