Job Description

Seeking a High Voltage & Battery Systems Engineer with experience in high voltage system safety for the automotive environment. The role involves contributing to product strategy, staying updated on safety regulations, developing safety goals, and collaborating with various teams to ensure the safety and reliability of Lucid's HV systems.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to product strategy and roadmap for HV systems safety and reliability
  • Stay updated with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Develop Lucid safety goals and due care targets
  • Develop concept of operations for different safety features within the RESS
  • Work closely with simulation and design teams
  • Support the development of 1D modeling tools
  • Work closely with the design team and track changes
  • Own and develop the RESS safety validation test plans
  • Support the battery abuse test team
  • Monitor RESS testing, data acquisition, and database organization
  • Analyze abuse test data and communicate key RESS performance parameters
  • Work with homologation, crash CAE, program, and vehicle teams
  • Contribute to creating a documentation system
  • Engage in domestic and international travel

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in RESS safety or automotive industry
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering
  • Solid understanding of RESS technology and high voltage safety
  • Strong understanding of thermal runaway phenomenon and detection methods
  • Experience in designing experiments
  • Experience in reviewing and analysis of large test data sets
  • Excellent in using analytical and numerical tools
  • Experience with automated requirements management tools
  • Experience performing or participating in DFMEA, PFMEA and HARA
  • Excellent soft skills
  • Ability to comprehend complex systems and coordinate action plans
  • Ability to solve open-ended engineering problems
  • Detail-oriented personality with solid documentation skills
  • Ownership mindset, enthusiasm, and collaborative spirit
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced startup environment
  • BS (and preferably MS or PhD) in a relevant engineering discipline
