Job Description

The New York Times is seeking a visual journalist to join the Investigations desk, focusing on multimedia storytelling, interactive features, data analysis, and collaboration with reporters and designers. The role involves developing tools, visualizing data, and ensuring accuracy and clarity in published material.

Responsibilities

  • Report and tell multimedia stories in collaboration with journalists
  • Collect, clean, and analyze large data and document sets
  • Develop tools to assist and broaden the scope of reporting
  • Determine requirements for graphics and multimedia storytelling
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of company values

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience designing interactive web and mobile stories
  • Understanding of evolving media, technology, and design landscape
  • Expertise with data analysis and visualization
  • Significant front-end web development experience using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
