The Research Associate 1 performs laboratory procedures contributing to cross functional activities. Works with Scientific Operations, a multidisciplinary team within the research and development department.
Responsibilities
Perform mammalian cell culture
Extract nucleic acids from biospecimens
Isolate plasma and buffy coat from whole blood
Operate liquid handling equipment
Determine quantity and/or quality of nucleic acids
Load libraries onto next generation sequencing platforms
Interpret data and determine appropriate next steps
Perform routine laboratory equipment maintenance
Recognize and escalate equipment malfunctions and lab process deviations
Track sample inventory and status
Maintain accurate records of lab work
Review standard operating procedures
Ensure accurate, ethical, and appropriate management of samples
Perform other tasks as specified by the manager/director
Requirements
BS/BA in a biological science or equivalent
0-2 years of related laboratory experience
Excellent aseptic techniques
Familiarity with good pipetting practices
Experience with laboratory automation preferred
Knowledge of LIMS/database software
Excellent with Microsoft Office programs and Google Drive
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to think creatively and analytically
Team player with strong interpersonal skills
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, evolving environment
