The Senior Network Technician will provide network hardware consulting, physical on-site support, and customer's IT infrastructure hardware in production and lab environments for clients. Heavy onsite travel is involved.
Responsibilities
Provide tailored recommendations to customers regarding their IT hardware
Research and resolve technical problems
Recommend network layout
Provide infrastructure, cabling, and device installation/decommissioning
Identify and configure OOB management interfaces
Perform firmware and/or troubleshoot BIOS updates
Configure devices with static IP addresses, subnets, gateways, and DNS servers
Develop documentation to maintain records
Conduct client-facing meetings
Assist in performing root cause analysis
Determine when/if escalation to management is necessary
Provide guidance to lower-level technicians
Provide remote console access
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
6+ years experience with server, storage, and networking hardware
Prior MSP experience desired
Ability to travel domestically up to 85% - 90% of the time
CompTIA A+, Network+, and Cisco CCNA certifications desired
Understanding of Office365 products
Clear and concise communication skills
Ability to analyze customer needs and make recommendations
Knowledge of subnetting
Ability to identify power circuits and circuit breakers
Ability to identify device port assignments and types
Ability to identify fiber optic cables and optics
Ability to terminate and test CAT5 and CAT6 cables
Ability to run power/data cables and label
Comprehension of fiber and copper patch panel function
