Job Description

The Senior Network Technician will provide network hardware consulting, physical on-site support, and customer's IT infrastructure hardware in production and lab environments for clients. The role involves heavy onsite travel and includes training lower-level technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent analysis and provide tailored recommendations to customers
  • Research and resolve technical problems
  • Recommend network layout
  • Provide infrastructure, cabling, and device installation/decommissioning
  • Identify and configure OOB management interfaces
  • Perform firmware and/or troubleshoot BIOS updates
  • Configure devices with static IP addresses, subnets, gateways, and DNS servers
  • Develop documentation
  • Conduct client-facing meetings
  • Assist in performing root cause analysis
  • Determine when/if escalation to management is necessary
  • Provide guidance to lower-level technicians
  • Provide remote console access
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years experience with server, storage, and networking hardware
  • Prior MSP experience desired
  • CompTIA A+ certification desired
  • CompTIA Network+ and Cisco CCNA certifications desired
  • Ability to travel domestically
  • Fundamental understanding of all Office365 products
  • Ability to conduct clear and concise communication in English
  • Ability to independently analyze customer needs and make recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of subnetting
  • Ability to identify power circuits and circuit breakers
  • Ability to identify various device port assignments
  • Ability to identify various power receptacle types
  • Thorough understanding of console connectivity and OOB management functionality
  • Ability to identify various device port types
  • Ability to identify various fiber optic cables and optics
  • Ability to properly terminate and test CAT5 and CAT6 cables
  • Ability to properly run power/data cables, label and dress to Trace3 standards
  • Thorough comprehension of fiber and copper patch panel function and A-Z port identification
