Job Description

Hungryroot is seeking a Director, Data Science (Machine Learning) to build and manage machine learning models for personalization, inventory optimization, and logistics. This remote role involves leading ML strategy, collaborating with various teams, and owning the entire ML pipeline.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and maintain end-to-end machine learning models
• Lead and evolve the ML function
• Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business needs into ML solutions
• Ideate and brainstorm to enhance the ML roadmap
• Own the full ML pipeline
• Write clean, production-ready code
• Stay current with the latest trends and techniques in machine learning

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in data science or machine learning engineering
• Strong foundation in statistical modeling and classical ML algorithms
• Experience leading cross functional teams and driving data-science led roadmaps preferred
• Proficiency in Python, C++, and ML libraries
• Experience with building, deploying, and maintaining models end-to-end in production environments
• Comfortable pair programming and working collaboratively in remote team environments
• Clear communication across technical levels
• Familiarity with Databricks and Spark
• Bonus: Experience in e-commerce, grocery, or subscription-based B2C models
