Job Description

Lab49 is seeking an experienced Product Design Lead to help shape product vision, deliver effective design solutions, and transform the user experience of financial technology products for their clients. This role combines strategic thinking, hands-on design, and business development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process
• Shape product vision and deliver effective design solutions
• Conduct customer research, competitor benchmarking, user journey mapping
• Present and articulate work clearly to clients
• Contribute to business development efforts
• Build strong client relationships
• Deliver high-quality UX and visual design
• Scope projects effectively and assemble capable delivery teams
• Act as a thought leader within the Experience Design practice

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with 2–3 years in a leadership role
• Strong portfolio showcasing UX and visual design
• Proven ability to lead all aspects of the design process
• Demonstrated experience conducting research, benchmarking, mapping journeys
• Comfort with consulting and business development
• Experience working closely with engineers
• Familiarity with tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Miro, InVision
• Excellent communication, storytelling, and interpersonal skills
• Experience in financial services or fintech is a plus
• Ability to balance hands-on design work with team leadership and client engagement
