Job Description

Lab49, a specialist consultancy in finance technology, seeks a Tech Lead to lead design and build of user experiences using modern web development technology. The role involves managing a team of UI engineers, collaborating with clients, and contributing to the Interactive Practice within Lab49. The Tech Lead will also partner with client counterparts, business development, and contribute to the engineering team's development.

Responsibilities

• Partner with clients to lead design and build of user experiences using modern web development technology.
• Manage a team of UI engineers and relationships with key contributors.
• Contribute to the Interactive Practice, fostering a culture of high-quality software development.
• Act as a hands-on engineer and architect for projects, from small initiatives to complex systems.
• Lead and participate in projects, serving as a role model for project teams.
• Collaborate with other practices to ensure successful outcomes.
• Partner with client counterparts and stakeholders to maintain and build relationships.
• Develop strong relationships with clients as a strategic partner and technical advisor.
• Contribute to expanding client footprint and securing follow-on work.
• Partner with Lab49 business development team to create and deliver compelling pitches.
• Assist in developing effective management skills and practices among line managers.
• Foster strategic career planning and development for the engineering team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and building complex, commercial-grade software applications.
• 5+ years leading Agile teams.
• Proven track record in effective leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making.
• Experience managing project teams and interacting with clients in finance, consulting, or start-up environments.
• Passion for technology and innovation, staying informed about industry trends.
• Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript, specifically Angular (or similar frameworks like React, Vue).
• Experience with one or more cloud platforms and contemporary SDLC practices.
• Strong understanding of testing, quality, continuous integration, source control, and code reviews.
• Experience in capital markets, financial markets/products, or consulting (highly desirable).
