Job Description

Workato is seeking a Principal Total Rewards Partner to join their growing team. This role serves as a key strategic advisor within the People team, influencing compensation strategy to attract and retain top talent. The ideal candidate will leverage expertise in market analysis and compensation design to deliver data-driven insights, champion compensation initiatives, and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, implementation, and optimization of compensation programs (base salary, variable incentives, equity).
  • Conduct job evaluations, compensation benchmarking, and market analysis for competitive pay structures.
  • Strategically manage and evolve job architecture for organizational structure and career progression.
  • Oversee and enhance equity administration processes (stock options, board consent audits, etc.).
  • Lead quarterly bonus process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.
  • Forge partnerships with People Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and senior stakeholders.
  • Coach, train, and empower People Business Partners on compensation conversations.
  • Act as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert on compensation issues.
  • Provide thought leadership on company-wide compensation initiatives.
  • Design and maintain reports, dashboards, and key metrics for actionable insights.
  • Synthesize and present compensation analytics to senior leadership.
  • Maintain and optimize HRIS and Compensation Management System.
  • Drive automation and process optimization within compensation and related People team functions.
  • Monitor and analyze market and industry compensation trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Economics, Finance, or related field.
  • 12+ years of hands-on compensation experience, including global compensation in a start-up and/or SaaS environment.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Excel for analysis and modeling.
  • Experience with Radford surveys and tech compensation surveys (global).
  • Thorough knowledge of compensation-related laws and regulations.
  • Deep understanding of equity in a pre-IPO high-tech environment.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS/technology environment (preferred).
  • Experience with Workday HRIS (preferred).
  • Certified Compensation Professional (preferred).
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
