Job Description

Lead and scale ClassDojo's data foundation, setting the vision for analytics engineering, architecting scalable solutions, and building a high-performing team. Partner with stakeholders to make data accessible, trusted, and actionable, driving strategic impact across product, engineering, and operations. Ensure data becomes a core enabler of decision-making throughout the company.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional initiatives transforming data use for decision-making and product outcomes
• Serve as a thought partner to executives, shaping long-term strategy and technical direction
• Align data strategy with product and engineering vision
• Oversee the design of data ecosystems handling business complexity at scale
• Hold the bar on modeling and architecture standards
• Define and govern ownership of data domains
• Build and grow high-performing teams
• Cultivate a psychologically safe, inclusive culture
• Set clear goals and performance expectations
• Guide the team through organizational change
• Be a hands-on technical leader with expertise in SQL, data modeling, Airflow, Redshift, dbt, and data orchestration
• Establish and operationalize best practices
• Lead evaluations and rollouts of modern tools
• Mentor engineers, analysts, and cross-functional partners
• Model proactive collaboration with other teams
• Lead with context and transparency

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience with data/analytics engineering, with at least 5 years of people management for an Analytics Engineering team
• Experience transforming a tactical data stack into a strategic platform
• Ability to balance vision and execution
• Bias for action without compromising data trust or systems quality
• Continuous learner, staying current in AI, data analytics, and educational technology
