Shift4 is seeking a skilled SQL Server DBA to manage critical SQL Server databases for its payments platform, ensuring health, performance, and security across geographically diverse data centers. The role involves hands-on database administration, performance tuning, and collaboration with teams to support platform growth.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and tune SQL Server database performance
• Implement and maintain security measures for SQL Server databases
• Execute backup and recovery strategies
• Collaborate to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues
• Work with R&D teams to design and optimize queries
• Participate in an on-call rotation for 24/7 support
• Stay updated on SQL Server technologies and best practices

Requirements

• 3+ years of SQL Server DBA experience
• Strong understanding of SQL Server performance tuning
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong English communication skills
• Ability to work day shift EST work hours
• Familiarity with database security practices and compliance requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, SOX, GDPR)
• Experience with PostgreSQL
