Job Description

The NFL is seeking a Director of Wireless Engineering & Architecture to lead the strategic vision and technical direction for the NFL’s wireless infrastructure, ensuring robust, scalable, and high-performance connectivity. The Director will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on wireless technologies, leading the architecture, design, and operations of NFL wireless networks, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic vision and operational excellence of NFL wireless networks
  • Establish and enforce enterprise standards for wireless network systems
  • Provide support for stadium wireless network technicians during game days
  • Serve as the senior-most subject matter expert for wireless technologies
  • Own the development and governance of wireless network documentation
  • Drive the evaluation and adoption of next-generation wireless technologies
  • Partner with senior leaders to integrate wireless capabilities
  • Lead the resolution of wireless service issues
  • Define and report on wireless network KPIs and performance metrics
  • Provide technical leadership for internal infrastructure initiatives
  • Provide executive oversight for wireless infrastructure projects
  • Perform as a Wireless Architect/ Principal SME
  • Stay updated on wireless technologies
  • Represent the NFL in industry forums

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with 10+ years of experience
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale wireless infrastructure initiatives
  • Extensive hands-on experience in wireless network architecture and implementation
  • Deeply proficient in wireless network architecture and administration, particularly Cisco and Extreme products
  • Strong understanding of wireless network performance, security, and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Ability to collaborate within high-performing technical teams
  • Experience supporting large-scale events or high-density wireless environments
  • Strong business acumen
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining technical documentation
