Job Description

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) is seeking a Commitment Analysis Engineer to oversee the daily operations of the Day-Ahead market. This role involves gaining knowledge of the New York State high voltage transmission system, market analysis software, and supporting the development of software and techniques to analyze market functions. The engineer will also perform reliability assessments, coordinate commitment activities, and maintain software related to unit commitment and security analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Run Day Ahead Energy Market and distribute results
  • Perform Day Ahead simulations and analyze results
  • Perform Short Term Reliability Assessment
  • Provide backup engineering support
  • Coordinate daily commitment activities
  • Implement and maintain software modifications
  • Ensure software integrity through QA procedures
  • Test and implement network model updates
  • Provide Dispatcher support
  • Maintain software and procedures for market conditions
  • Provide technical support to Market Monitoring and Stakeholder Services
  • Implement and maintain OASIS TCC limits
  • Maintain support for weather-based load forecasts
  • Implement software modifications for new resources
  • Support Business Management System (BMS) software deployment
  • Support SOC1 audit requirements
  • Validate control center systems readiness

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 2 years of experience as an Engineer in the power/energy industry
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit MEP
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience with SKM Power Tools – Dapper
