Job Description

The NYISO seeks a Planning Engineer to coordinate, perform, and review technical studies related to the interconnection of new generation, transmission, and load facilities to the New York State transmission system. This role involves coordination with internal departments, responding to inquiries, and assisting in document development and review.

Responsibilities

  • Review project facilities and modeling data
  • Prepare base cases for interconnection studies
  • Coordinate with project developers and transmission owners
  • Perform or review power flow, short circuit, and stability analysis
  • Evaluate system upgrade requirements and develop cost estimates
  • Prepare and review interconnection study reports
  • Lead or participate in project study meetings

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 2 years of experience as an Engineer in the energy industry
  • Experience with PSS/E
  • Experience with Python
