Job Description

Loft Orbital is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and maintain software for spacecraft and constellation scheduling. This role involves designing, building, and operating core services for optimal payload access and managing multi-satellite operations, with opportunities for direct involvement in live satellite operations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services for mission scheduling
• Implement and optimize algorithms for spacecraft tasking
• Simulate and test scenarios for operational capabilities
• Manage deconfliction to prevent operational conflicts
• Contribute to open-source libraries and tooling
• Support internal users of satellite operation software
• Participate in spacecraft operations
• Engage in SatDevOps training

Requirements

• Strong Python proficiency
• Experience with containers
• Experience with web development backend frameworks
• Experience with Python numerical and data processing libraries
• Experience designing and implementing APIs
• Self-motivation and collaboration skills
• Strong problem-solving and operational awareness
