Axon is seeking a Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead the development of next-generation life-saving technology. This role involves leading a team, overseeing design and testing, ensuring quality standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive the company's mission of protecting life. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in mechanical engineering and a passion for innovation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a team of mechanical engineers
• Review and guide design, development, and testing
• Enforce engineering rigor
• Execute mechanical engineering strategy
• Forge connections with other departments
• Maintain relationships with partners and vendors
• Communicate project progress to senior management
• Lead ideation of new product concepts

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
• 15+ years of product design experience
• 6+ years of leading mechanical engineering teams
• Proven record of launching electronic products
• Experience with high volume manufacturing
• Experience with PDM/PLM systems
• Strong DFM/DFA skills
• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling (CREO preferred)
• Experience with mechanical analysis (FEA, tolerance analysis)
