Job Description

The ACLU is seeking a Summer Legal Intern for the Center for Liberty to work on issues including discrimination, family regulation, and gender justice. The intern will conduct research, draft legal documents, and support litigation and advocacy efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and analysis
  • Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, and briefs
  • Draft public education materials
  • Support ACLU affiliates and cooperating attorneys
  • Potential client interaction and trial practice support
  • Embed equity, inclusion, and belonging principles in work

Requirements

  • Currently matriculated in law school
  • Completion of 1L year or enrollment in LLM program by summer 2026
  • Excellent research and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Commitment to public interest law and civil liberties
  • Demonstrated legal analysis and fact-finding ability
