Job Description

The ACLU is seeking a Summer Legal Intern for the Criminal Law Reform Project in New York City. The intern will assist with factual investigation, legal research, and writing to support litigation and advocacy efforts focused on criminal justice reform. This position may be remote or hybrid.

Responsibilities

  • Legal research
  • Legal writing (memos, court submissions)
  • Fact investigation
  • Support in court case preparation (depositions, arguments, hearings, trial)

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a U.S. law school
  • Completed at least one year of law school
  • Excellent research and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Initiative and commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and racial justice
