Job Description

The ACLU is seeking a Summer Legal Intern for its Disability Rights Program, based in Washington DC or San Francisco, CA. The intern will assist with legal research, writing, factual investigation, and advocacy to advance litigation and integrated advocacy efforts focused on disability rights, particularly at the intersection of disability, veterans’ rights, and civil liberties.

Responsibilities

  • Legal research
  • Legal writing (memos, court submissions)
  • Fact investigation
  • Support in court case preparation
  • Participate in litigation, advocacy, and meetings

Requirements

  • Currently matriculated legal student
  • Completed at least one year of law school
  • Based in the U.S. for the duration of the internship
  • Excellent research and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Initiative to complete projects
