Job Description

The ACLU is seeking a Summer Legal Intern for the LGBTQ & HIV Project in New York City. This internship involves legal research and writing to support the project's litigation, lobbying, public education, and organizing efforts. The position can be remote or hybrid and aims to develop future civil rights advocates.

Responsibilities

• Drafting memoranda, affidavits, and briefs
• Conducting legal and policy research
• Researching prospects for new litigation
• Drafting materials for public education

Requirements

• Current law student with at least one year of law school completed
• Commitment to LGBTQ+ and HIV civil liberties
• Excellent research and communication skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
