Job Description

The ACLU is seeking a Summer Legal Intern to support its work across the Supreme Court, focusing on areas like voting rights, LGBTQ rights, immigration, and free speech. The intern will assist with legal research, brief drafting, and advocacy strategy development.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and analysis
• Aid in drafting legal memoranda, motions, and briefs
• Provide support to ACLU affiliates and cooperating attorneys
• Assist with long-term planning and strategy projects
• Gain exposure to advocacy strategy and coalition management

Requirements

• Currently matriculated in law school
• Completion of 1L year by summer 2026 (2L completion preferred)
• Excellent research and communication skills
• Attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Commitment to public interest law, civil liberties, and racial justice
• Demonstrated ability to conduct complex legal analysis
