Job Description

The ACLU is seeking a Summer Legal Intern for the Racial Justice Program in New York City. The intern will support ongoing litigation, investigations, and advocacy efforts related to racial discrimination and its impact on communities of color. This position can be remote or hybrid and requires a full-time commitment for 10 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting legal and factual research
  • Reviewing and coding discovery productions
  • Producing and editing memos and research reports
  • Drafting briefs
  • Participating in team meetings
  • Embedding equity, inclusion, and belonging principles into work

Requirements

  • Current law school student
  • Completed first year of law school before internship
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
  • Initiative and project completion skills
  • Commitment to public interest law, civil liberties, and racial justice
  • Based in the U.S. for the duration of the internship
