Job Description

The ACLU is seeking a Summer Legal Intern for its State Supreme Court Initiative, based in New York City or Washington D.C. The intern will assist with research and writing projects related to litigation in state supreme courts, supporting the ACLU’s efforts to strengthen its voice in state supreme courts.

Responsibilities

• Draft memoranda, motions, and portions of briefs
• Conduct legal and factual research
• Track cases and issues
• Center equity, inclusion, and belonging in all work

Requirements

• Currently matriculated legal student
• Based in the U.S. for the duration of the internship
• Completed at least one year of law school
• Excellent research and communication skills
• Attention to detail and organization
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Commitment to the ACLU’s mission
