Job Description

The ACLU is seeking a Summer Legal Intern for the Trone Center for Justice and Equality, focusing on issues of crime, punishment, and racial justice. The intern will conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and support the Center's work on various criminal justice reform initiatives. This position can be remote or hybrid in New York City or Washington D.C.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and analysis
  • Draft legal memos and briefs
  • Support Center Director, Staff Attorney, and Legal Fellow
  • Work on Center priorities and issue areas as assigned

Requirements

  • Second or third-year law student with J.D. degree from ABA-accredited law school
  • Completed at least one year of law school
  • Commitment to Trone Center's issues
  • Outstanding legal research, writing, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
