Job Description

The ACLU seeks a Summer Legal Intern for the Voting Rights Project, based in New York City or Washington D.C., to support litigation and advocacy efforts focused on protecting voting rights and ensuring an accessible, inclusive, and equitable democracy. The internship involves legal research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with various projects related to voter registration and voting access.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and analysis
  • Aid in drafting legal memoranda, pleadings, and briefs
  • Draft and edit public education materials
  • Provide support to ACLU affiliates
  • Potential participation in client work, discovery, and trial practice

Requirements

  • Completion of 1L year of law school or enrollment in an LLM program
  • Excellent research and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Commitment to public interest law, civil liberties, and racial justice
  • Ability to conduct complex legal analysis
