Job Description

The ACLU is seeking a Legal Intern for the Policy and Government Affairs team within the National Political Advocacy Department. The intern will contribute to legal and policy research, writing, and advocacy efforts related to voting, racial justice, free speech, technology policy, and democracy reform. This is a full-time internship that can be remote or hybrid in Washington D.C.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting legal and policy research
  • Drafting reports and analyzing legislation
  • Preparing advocacy and public education materials
  • Monitoring legal and legislative developments
  • Supporting congressional outreach

Requirements

  • Currently matriculated graduate/legal student
  • Based in the U.S. for the duration of the internship
  • Knowledge of government and policy
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills
  • Organized and proactive
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
