Canonical is seeking an Ubuntu Security Engineer to join their industry-leading security engineering team. The role involves monitoring, triaging, responding to, and documenting vulnerabilities in open source software, collaborating with internal teams and external partners, and contributing to the overall security of Ubuntu. They are looking for candidates across all levels of experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing, fixing, and testing vulnerabilities
• Tracking vulnerabilities in the Ubuntu ecosystem
• Collaborating with teams and upstream developers
• Auditing source code
• Building security features and tools

Requirements

• Understanding of security vulnerabilities and fixes
• Familiarity with coordinated disclosure
• Familiarity with open source development
• Proficiency in C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, or JavaScript/TypeScript
• Strong logic and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
• Interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
• Self-motivation and accountability
