Job Description

Canonical is seeking a Telco Field Engineer to lead customers through the design and delivery of OpenStack, Kubernetes, and software-defined networking solutions. This is a hands-on role focused on implementing solutions and enabling customers to operate advanced infrastructure for 5G and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Match customer requirements to advanced capabilities
• Provide technical pre-sales consulting
• Design and implement telco-grade open source clouds
• Deploy cloud solutions (OpenStack, Kubernetes, MAAS, Ceph)
• Investigate and fix software defects
• Demonstrate Infrastructure as code techniques
• Learn model-driven operations with Juju charms
• Help customers adopt Bare Metal, Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud solutions
• Drive product improvements
• Shape roadmap for telco market growth

Requirements

• Python software development experience (intermediate level)
• Terraform automation experience
• Understanding of telco NFVi space
• Technical understanding of telco technologies (CPU Pinning, NUMA, SRIOV, DPDK)
• Working understanding of MNOs and CSPs architectures
• Knowledge of Mobile Packet Core, Radio, VAS, OSS/BSS
• Understanding of open source best practices in telco virtualization
• Working knowledge of Linux, Openstack and Kubernetes networking
• Passion for automation
• Ability to lead complex projects
• Collaborative attitude
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to travel up to 50%
