Job Description

Canonical is seeking a Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer to join their Information Systems team. This role focuses on driving automation and utilizing open-source infrastructure as code to maintain and improve Canonical’s IT production services, which support over 60 million Ubuntu users. The engineer will collaborate with architects, develop infrastructure as code, and contribute to the improvement of Canonical products and open-source technologies.

Responsibilities

• Drive development of automation and Gitops
• Collaborate with IS architect
• Design and architect services
• Develop infrastructure as code
• Automate software operations
• Maintain operational responsibility for core services
• Troubleshoot, capacity planning, and performance investigation
• Provide assistance to peers
• Share experience and best practices

Requirements

• Modern view on hosting architecture with infrastructure as code
• Product mindset
• Python software development experience
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Cloud infrastructure management experience
• Linux networking knowledge
• Linux storage affinity
• Enterprise Linux administration experience
• Cloud computing knowledge
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
• Clear communication skills
• Troubleshooting skills
• Willingness to learn
• Familiarity with open-source, especially Ubuntu or Debian
