Job Description

This global leadership role manages the Security Operations team, responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving Canonical's security practices, tools, and policies. The team focuses on securing data, infrastructure, and build processes, while also contributing to product security and the wider open-source ecosystem. The role involves leading a high-performing team, integrating security insights into software development, and representing Canonical in security governance.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and mentor a technical security team
  • Define SecOps security standards and playbooks
  • Own and drive SOC architecture and design
  • Analyse and improve security architecture
  • Evaluate and implement security tools
  • Identify, contain, and remediate security threats
  • Grow Canonical SecOps practice
  • Contribute to threat intelligence initiatives
  • Drive threat modelling and exercises
  • Develop SecOps learning materials
  • Publish security content
  • Implement and track SecOps KPIs
  • Plan and deliver SecOps work using agile practices
  • Present information and influence change

Requirements

  • Proven track record mitigating advanced threats
  • Expert understanding of SOCs
  • In-depth knowledge of SOC architecture
  • Expert in Linux security
  • Ability to implement incident response playbooks
  • Knowledge of security architecture and tools
  • Experience with threat intelligence feeds
  • Experience with NIST CSF
  • Exceptional academic record
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM
  • Drive and motivation
  • Leadership and management ability
  • Excellent English writing and presentation skills
