The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking an Engineering Manager for their SRE team. This role involves managing globally distributed teams, providing mentorship, coordinating projects, and leading incident response for services used by millions worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Manage globally distributed teams
• Provide guidance and mentorship
• Set performance goals
• Recruit and onboard new team members
• Prioritize workload
• Coordinate with other teams
• Develop team roadmap
• Manage projects
• Lead incident response
• Participate in on-call rotation
• Establish Service Level Indicators and Objectives

Requirements

• Prior team management experience
• Hands-on experience with software or reliability engineering
• Ability to analyze complex systems
• Proficiency in project management
• Understanding of cloud computing, networking, Linux, containerization, and infrastructure as code
• Aptitude for automation
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to travel
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent
